Buddy
Born a human but raised at the North Pole as a Christmas Elf, Buddy is eager to find
his place in the world. He is a child at heart and that child-like curiosity makes him
both endearing and gets him into trouble. Funny, and warm with an infectious
personality. He has outrageous enthusiasm for everything he sees and does but it
is very genuine. A strong mover with a great sense of physical comedy.
Age: 25 to 35

Jovie
Buddy's girlfriend. She works at Macy's and has a bit of a cynical outlook on life and
love because of the men she's dated. She is caught off guard by Buddy's genuinely
big heart. Comedic, appealing, and relatable. A New Yorker that doesn't have
much Christmas spirit until meeting Buddy. Amazing singing voice with a strong
belt up to a D flat.
Age: 25 to 30

Walter
Buddy's workaholic father with little time left for enjoying life or appreciating simple
things. He is a Children's book writer, but lacks any of the childlike spirit that Buddy
has. He is selfish, tense, and generally angry with life. He is an upscale successful
business man who has become cold and distant with his family until Buddy enters
their life. Good singing voice.
Age: 40ish upwards

Emily
Walter's wife. Though she is sweet and willing to take him in, she thinks Buddy is
crazy at first but soon embraces his as one of the family. Wishes her husband would
spend more time with the family. Warm, amazing singing voice with a strong belt up
to a C

Michael
Buddy's half brother who is excited to have a new friend and brother. Unlike his
mother, he doesn't take much convincing to have Christmas spirit; but like his
mother, he wishes his father would spend more time with the family. Funny and
smart, he quickly bonds with Buddy and is determined to share a great Christmas
with his entire family.

Santa
Just another workingman. Loves his job and Christmas, but also likes to kick-back
and watch the game when a rare opportunity arises. Jolly, warm, funny, down to
earth, a beer and pizza kind of Santa. A natural storyteller. good singing voice.

Greenway
Walter's boss. He is what Walter will become if he continues down the path he is on.
A tyrannical, workaholic who cares nothing about the people around him or who work
for him. A shrewd business mind, must have great comic timing and sing well.

Deb
Walter's secretary, funny, full of character and sharp wit. Takes an instant liking to
Buddy simply for the novelty of it. Though she aims to please and is a bit of a suck-
up, she feels under appreciated. Strong character singer with an excellent belt and
a strong mover.

Manager
A heavy-set manager at Macy's. He is a good, friendly guy just trying to do his job
and get by.

Chadwick
One of Walter's stalwarts. They are desperate to keep their job, and perhaps the
dumber of the two.
Age: 30+
Matthews
One of Walter's stooges. They are desperate to keep their job and is the schemer of
the two.

Charlie (Head Elf)
Charlie is the head foreman of Santa’s Toy Workshop. Acting as Santa's middle
manager, he is tasked with monitoring the other elves, ensuring all toys are wrapped,
and demanding efficiency. Despite enforcing a strict quota, he remains a friendly and
encouraging leader.
Age: 16+
Shawanda (Elf)
A caring, dependable North Pole elf and a key catalyst for the plot. She is tasked
with managing toy quotas and initially picks up the slack for Buddy, before
accidentally revealing the truth about his human origins.
Age: 16+

rather than a specific character. You may be asked to read for
several on the night. Unless essential to the plot the role below can

On Stage
We're always looking for new performers to take to the stage. Whether you're an experienced performer or have never set foot in a rehearsal room, there's a place for you. We put on everything from classic musicals like The Sound of Music to modern hits like Nine to Five. Our company is full of talented singers, actors, and dancers, and we love welcoming new faces to our cast.
You'll get the chance to:
Perform in a variety of shows, from musicals to plays.
Work with an experienced director and production team.
Be part of our centenary celebration at the iconic Minack Theatre in 2027.
Behind the Scenes
A show simply can't happen without our incredible backstage crew. If you're a team player who loves solving problems and getting things done, this is for you. We need dedicated people for everything from stage management and lighting to set building and costumes. There are so many ways to contribute and learn new skills, and you'll be a vital part of every production.
Our backstage roles include:
Stage Management: Keep the show running smoothly during performances.
Lighting and Sound: Create the atmosphere and make sure every line is heard.
Set Design and Building: Bring the world of the show to life.
Props and Costumes: Find or create all the finishing touches.
How to Join
We welcome anyone aged 15 and up. We hold auditions for our main productions, but we also have lots of other events and concerts throughout the year that don't require an audition.
